Value: 3 points
Characters with Belief hold particularly strong and structured views about morality and behaviour, allowing them to take advantage of other characters' Complications (such as Susceptibility - 1 STUN When Confronted by Holy Objects Displayed by Believers and Physical - Must Win Resistance Contest or Avoid Characters Displaying Belief).
Example: A Vampire with Resistance 6 approaches Father Brown (Resistance 7). Father Brown whips out a crucifix and shouts, "Back, unholy spawn of the Devil!" Father Brown has the Belief talent, which triggers the Vampire's Physical and Susceptibility complications. As well as taking 1 STUN, the Vampire must win a Resistance Contest to continue to advance. It rolls 11 + 6 for a total of 17, while Father Brown rolls 12 + 7 for a total of 19, winning the contest.
The Vampire hisses, cowers, and turns to run ... straight at Holly Hostage, Father Brown's DNPC. Holly also has her cross out, but doesn't have the Belief talent. The Vampire takes another 1 STUN but rushes on, sweeping her outstretched cross aside and seizing her. "Get back," it tells Father Brown, "or I'll kill the girl."
Value: 3 points for 2 DC Damage Negation against falls, throws and knockback
Characters with this talent know how to fall safely and minimise the damage caused by the impact of hitting the ground. Breakfall reduces the damage caused by throws, falls and knockback by 2 DC. Breakfall does not apply if the character is surprised, stunned or unconscious. It also does not apply if the character is thrown or is knocked back into something, such as a wall, vehicle, or another character.
Characters cannot purchase Lightning Reflexes. Instead, increase your Initiative characteristic.
