Using Ability Scores
Skills
Strength: Athletics, Brawn
Dexterity: Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Tinker
Intelligence: Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature, Religion
Wisdom: Animal Handling, Insight, Medicine, Perception, Survival
Charisma: Deception, Intimidation, Performance, Persuasion, Streetwise
- Brawn is the skill for lifting, pushing, pulling and breaking objects with your physical strength.
- Streetwise is the skill for surviving and thriving in rough and dangerous urban areas, gathering information, locating fences, and tracking down people who don't want to be found.
- Tinker is the skill for operating mechanical devices, setting and disarming traps, opening locks, and repairing firearms.
The skills with different abilities variant rules apply. For example, the DM may request an Intimidation check using Strength following a test of might, or using Intelligence following a display of intellectual superiority.
Passive Checks
Characters trying to remember information they already know must make a passive Intelligence check. Illiterate characters who are proficient with the relevant Intelligence skill have advantage on this passive check.
Specialisations
- Characters who are not proficient with the skill are proficient with the specialisation.
- Characters who are proficient with the skill have expertise with the specialisation.
- Characters who have expertise with the skill have reliable talent with the specialisation.
- Characters who have reliable talent with the skill have advantage with the specialisation.
Saving Throws
Saving Throws equal 14 plus the appropriate ability modifier plus proficiency (if relevant). If the attacker equals or exceeds this number on d20 plus their spell attack modifier, the defender fails the save.
