Potestas: a D&D3E supplement

Contingent Spell [Magic, Metamagic]

You can place a spell on your person so that it comes into effect when a pre-set condition is met.

Prerequisite: None.

Benefit: You can pre-cast a spell on your person so that it is ready to take effect when the necessary condition is met. It takes an additional 10 minutes to pre-cast the spell, which can have Magic Power of up to your Magic Power -4 (as the 4 Power points expended to use this feat do not count towards the Magic Power of the pre-cast spell). At the end of the casting period, you lose 5 XP for each Power point expended on the pre-cast spell.
The condition needed to bring the spell into effect must be clear, although they can be general (for example, "if I am fully immersed in water") or specific ("if I snap my fingers and shout 'Darkness!'"). When the condition is met, the pre-cast spell takes effect instantaneously. If a complicated or convoluted condition is set, the pre-cast spell may fail. The caster will not know until the conditions is met and the spell fails to activate.
You radiate an aura of magic for as long as the pre-cast spell is active. The pre-cast spell can be dispelled or negated like any other personal spell.
You may have one pre-cast spell active at any one time. If you pre-cast a second spell, the first one (if still active) is immediately negated.

Power Cost: A contingent spell uses up an additional 4 Power points. These 4 Power points do not count towards all other spell effects based on Power points expended, such as duration, area, damage, save DC, XP cost, and other heightened effects.

Special: You can take this metamagic feat multiple times, and the effects stack. Each additional feat allows you to have an additional pre-cast spell active.
