Protect from Affliction

This spell protects the subject from one type of affliction. The spell immediately removes any non-magical effect the subject is suffering from. It also removes any magical effect of equal or fewer Power points than the Power points expended by the caster, and grants a new saving throw with a +4 bonus against more powerful magical effects. This occurs even if the affliction has a duration of instantaneous.
It also renders the target immune to non-magical effects and magical effects of equal or fewer Power points for the duration of the spell, and confers a +4 bonus to saving throws against more powerful magical effects.
This spell can instead counter and dispel a creature or object's power to use supernatural or spell-like effects that cause one type of affliction for the duration of the spell, at the caster's option. The caster must make a dispel check, as for remove magic.
Restriction: Choose one type of affliction (blindness & deafness, disease, fatigue & exhaustion, paralysis, petrification, poison, sickened & nauseated). This spell only protects against that affliction, as follows.
Blindness & Deafness: the minimum Power points cost increases to 3. This spell protects equally against both conditions, but will not restore missing eyes and ears.
Disease: the minimum Power points cost increases to 5. It does not prevent reinfection at a later date.
Fatigue & Exhaustion: this spell removes fatigue, and improves exhausted target to fatigued. For an additional 4 Power points, it can be heightened to remove exhaustion as well.
Paralysis: the minimum Power points cost increases to 3. This spell also protects against all magic effects that reduce speed, including the slow spell and the heightened cloud spell. For an additional 4 Power points, it can be heightened to allow the subject to move freely while underwater, even with slashing weapons such as axes and swords or with bludgeoning weapons such as flails, hammers, and maces, provided that the weapon is wielded in the hand rather than hurled.
Petrification: the minimum Power points cost increases to 7.
Poison: the minimum Power points cost increases to 3.
Sickened & Nauseated: this spell protects equally against both conditions.
Diminished: For 2 Power points less (minimum 0 Power points), the subject gains only the +4 bonus to saving throws.
