Potestas: a D&D3E supplement

Magic Items

Clothing

Magic clothing usually confers constantly on its wearer the benefits of a spell. All magic clothing is also masterwork clothing, and thus gives a +1 enhancement bonus to Charisma-based skill checks where being well-dressed is advantageous.

Examples

Belt of Strength: While worn, the user gains a +6 enhancement bonus to Strength.

Moderate Transmutation (2); Create Constant Item, enhance ability (11 power), Purchase DC 38 (masterwork belt +10, spell +25, continuous effect +3), raw materials DC 36, XP Cost 2431 (2376 for raw materials + 55 for permanent spell).

Boots of Haste & Speed: When activated, these leather boots give their wearer +20 ft speed and the benefits of the haste spell for 5 rounds. The wearer can activate the boots with just a thought (a free action) up to 5 times a day.

Faint Transmutation (2); Create Constant Item, enhance speed (5 power), haste (5 power), Purchase DC 31 (masterwork boots +11, strongest spell +16, limited continuous effect +2, second spell +2), raw materials DC 29, XP Cost 920 (435 for strongest spell raw materials + 435 for second spell raw materials + 50 for 2 permanent spells).

Cloak of Stealth: This grey cloak allows the wearer to go unnoticed when the cloak is drawn close. Other creatures may attempt a Will save (DC 17) to notice the wearer; if the save fails, the wearer has a +40 bonus to Sneak skill checks. If a creature is currently being attacked by the warded creature, it receives a new saving throw with a bonus of +5. It is also practically impossible to remain hidden from a creature you are attacking: if the other creature fails its saving throw, you must make a new Sneak check with a +20 bonus instead of the usual +40 bonus.

Moderate Illusion; Create Constant Item, General Spell, hide (9 power); Purchase DC 37 (masterwork cloak +12, spell +22, continuous effect +3), raw materials DC 35, XP Cost 1620 (1575 for raw materials + 45 for permanent spell).
