Costs for Typical Goods and Services
Equipment for Creatures of Different Sizes: Dwarves, mercanians and taboti all find some equipment designed for people of Medium size inconvenient to use. Equipment designed for dwarves and other Small creatures costs and weighs half as much, while equipment designed for mercanians, taboti and other Large creatures costs and weighs twice as much.
Magic Weapon Special Abilities
Mounts: there are no riding dogs. Dwarves ride ponies.
Costs for Magic Items, Item Creation, Spells, and Spell Components: divide the listed GP cost by 12.5 to determine the cost in Shillings, or by 250 to determine the cost in Pounds.
Character Wealth: regardless of actual character wealth, player characters routinely have a "kit" of equipment whose maximum possible value is based on their character level. No single magic item can have a value greater than 50% of the maximum possible value for all equipment. Learning a new spell requires the permanent allocation of character wealth equal to the cost of buying a scroll of that spell.

Scarcity of Magic Items: because player characters can choose any magic item that costs 50% or less of the maximum possible value of their "kit" of equipment, some types of magic items have an increased notional cost to represent the relative scarcity of those items. This increase does not alter the real cost of creating such a magic item, only the cost of having such a magic item on a character's equipment list. It does not increase the cost of learning a new spell, as the character does not actually have a "single-use" scroll of that spell.
| Type of Item |
Cost Modifier
|
Reason for the Cost Modifier |
| Divine magic item |
x 1.5
|
Because arcane and nature magic have existed for longer than divine magic, there are more arcane and nature magic items in existence |
| Divine magic item that requires the devout belief feat to use |
x 1
|
Because the cost modifier for being a divine magic item balanced out the cost modifier for requiring a feat to use the magic item |
| Single-use or charged magic item |
x 5
|
Because potions, scrolls, wands and ammunition "replenish" between adventures |
