Dirkholme

Form of Government: weak monarchy, weak nobility.

State of the Nation in 1393 AUC: The shock of the invasion of the Mercanian slaves has passed. Dirkholme is a peaceful and stable trading nation once more, with a sporadically enforced monopoly on the trade routes from Teran to Glendal, Birland and Mercania.

Races: mostly Humans, ruled by Humans of Mercanian descent.

Religion: Selentine True Faith, some Paganism.

Description and History: Nearly a century ago, a small fleet of slaves who had escaped from Mercania captured the city of Maran. The new rulers of Maran expanded their authority over the rest of the island and the smaller islands nearby, creating a kingdom that they named Dirkholme after their leader, the organiser of their escape from Mercania. Now an old man, Dirk is still King. The mixed ancestry of the rulers of Dirkholme can be seen in their long lives, appearance and height, as they are mostly of blond or red hair and are on average more than a foot taller than their subjects.
