Goduku is one of the five Davinan children who were sacrificed to the elements by their tribe. He was buried under a tree as a sacrifice to plants, and was woken from his slumber by Dormita. Luxian used the Hatuli to locate Goduku, who was taken in by Master Federigo as his apprentice.

Ishankoi is one of the five Davinan children who were sacrificed to the elements by their tribe. She was placed into a stream of lava as a sacrifice to fire. The volcano where Ishankoi was buried erupted around 20 years ago, and Ishankoi is no longer there.

Mayauel believes she is the reincarnation of Saaknathur, one of the Seven Eternal Sorcerers. She is one of the five Davinan children who were sacrificed to the elements by their tribe. Mayauel was placed in the river as a sacrifice to water, and was carried through the Cosh Goyope and across the Deeps of Rasakna and the Sea of Lament to the Grey Rock, where she came ashore in 1360 AUC. Mayauel is unmarried.

Tikaru is one of the five Davinan children who were sacrificed to the elements by their tribe. He was left on top of the highest mountain as a sacrifice to air, and his nightmares drew Dormita's attention decades ago. Mayauel believes he is the reincarnation of Chang the Stormrider, one of the Seven Eternal Sorcerers, and has returned to the Mountains Under Heaven.

Alexios is a baron in eastern Emphidor. He is Theresa's father. Alexios is married.

Alexios is Baron Alexios' oldest living son. He is currently serving as a page for his half-sister Anna.

Anna is Baron Alexios' oldest living legitimate child, though she is younger than her half-sister Theresa. Her father granted her a fief that included the Vouvalopoulos family castle and the village of Urla after she and Theresa took up Adralestor's challenge. Anna is unmarried.

Sir Anthimos is the younger brother of Lady Eirene. He promised to assist Hermione in rescuing her father after he accompanied his sister on her pilgrimage to Selentium. Sir Anthimos is unmarried.

Kendall is Hermione's father, and the younger brother of the Baron of Ristol. He raised Hermione in Old Duneld, and sent her to his brother in Duneld Across the Water in 1395 AUC on one of the last ships to escape the besieged city of Louten before it fell to the Goblins of Krarth. Kendall was presumed dead until his brother received a ransom note in 1399 AUC from King Thraim. Kendall is widowed.

Sir Makarios is a knight from Emphidor who seeks to do great deeds and build his reputation for heroism. He held the village of Urla in fief from his lord, Baron Gerbasios Vouvalopoulos, until his lord was killed in battle by the forces of Baron Alexios Dekanos. Sir Makarios chose to take the cross and go on crusade rather than swear fealty to his new lord. He is unmarried.

She is unmarried.

Ghulfang is a pirate captain. He led an attack on The Faithful Lady as she approached the Sea of Lament.

Klea is a part-elf woman from the village of Kupil in Molasaria who is famous for her artistry as a tapestry weaver. Her mother Agnes looked like an ordinary woman who moved to the village and quickly married her father, but was only there for a year and a day before disappearing. Klea is divorced and has one child, her crippled son Amar.

The Marijah assassin attempted to kill Zeno twice at Crescentium. The first time he attacked Zeno while he was sleeping, attempted to kill himself to avoid capture, and after being captured, seemed to will himself to death. The second time he paralysed Zeno with a poisoned dart, and fled to avoid capture.

Quintus is a Selentine centurion who was trapped in Adralestor's hall for centuries. He is unmarried.

Adralestor is an elf lord who gave the Vouvalopoulos family permission to build their castle on his land after the founder "dared much to give me rare entertainment". He agreed to let the Dekanos family take over the castle, so long as either Theresa or Anna received the castle in fief from their father. Adralestor entertained Anna and the adventurers at his Mid-Winter's Eve ball.

Garambar is the lord of the beast-folk of the Fenring Forest in northern Birland. He placed a curse on Hubert's great-grandfather for his role in the death of his brother Helvannion.

Hunguk is a legendary pirate who is most famous for killing Saaknathur, one of the Seven Eternal Sorcerers, in the tenth century AUC. Hunguk is cursed to sail the seas of Selentia in his ghost ship, The Sea-Devil's Runner. He becalmed The Faithful Lady in the Jeryl sea so that he could reclaim the Eyes of the Hatuli for his steersman Shambeer, and is currently imprisoned by Theresa in the Bronze Flask.

Molkos is a satyr from Molasaria. He loaned his pan pipes to Theresa. Molkos attended Adralestor's Mid-Winter's Eve ball as a fiddle-player.

Oinops is the son of the Emphidian god Potaidaon and the half-brother of the demigod Chrysdor. He tried to recover Atana's ointment from the village of Volikos to transform his half-brother back from stone to flesh.

One of four guards who fought the adventurers at the rope bridge in Thekla's caves, and the only one not killed by the adventurers. Her true form is that of a human-sized spider with an extra pair of human arms and hands.

Thekla is a powerful arcane being who insists she is a better weaver than Klea. She lives in caves near the village of Kupil in Molasaria.
