Description and History: Kevland is a kingdom of contrasts, from heavily forested hills in the north to vineyards around Lake Rhipe to fields of wheat south of the Meorl River. Much of Dorrain's trade passes through Kevland, though Teranian merchants dominate the markets. Hyparasia, legendary home of the Emphidian gods, dominates the skyline of western Kevland.

The Centumal family, who claimed to be descendants of Heroclites, the First Emperor, ruled a united Kevland for three hundred years until the direct line of succession died out about a century and a half ago. Jerome Murall was quickly anointed king with the endorsement of Ranimia, prompting Teran to invade, drive Jerome to the northern forests and anoint Gratian Fultofaude as king. The Kevish Civil War, fueled by Teran and Ranimia, lasted for more than a century until Ranimia withdrew its military support for the Muralls, who went into exile and then became leaders in the Crusade. With the success of the Crusade, the Muralls are encouraging rebellion in the north, threatening the position of Queen Almida Fultofaude, who is both childless and the last direct descendant of Gratian Fultofaude.

National History - List of Kings and Queens

Damius Centumal re-established the Kingdom of Kevland in 982 AUC after five hundred years of Selentine rule. He claimed to be directly descended from the First Emperor, Heroclites, and the Centumal dynasty lasted until 1251 AUC, when the direct line died out. At first, Jerome Murall was anointed king with the support of Ranima, but a Teranian army drove him and his supporters from Asti and Gratian I Fultofaude was anointed king in his place.

This started the Kevish Civil War (1251 to 1360), fought by the Kevish supporters of both families and by Teran and Ranimia. The Fultofaude faction held the major cities of Asti, where they anointed their monarchs, and Mantin; the Murall faction located their court at Legnano in the northern forests, where the monarchs who succeeded Jerome were anointed. The Civil War lasted for over a century, until Ranimia withdrew support for Euphemia Murall in 1355. Without the resources of the New Selentine Empire, Euphemia and her supporters were forced to retreat into Ranimia and Peronnia by Benedict Fultofaude. Benedict was eventually re-anointed as King of all Kevland at Legnano in 1360, ending the Civil War.

Benedict Fultofaude, reigned 1349-1368 AUC
Gratian III Fultofaude, reigned 1368-1386 AUC
Almida Fultofaude, reigned 1386 AUC to present

Almida (born 1369 AUC) is the last direct member of the Fultofaude dynasty. She met an army lieutenant, Terence Dorion, in 1388 and married in 1389. Terence, the Count of Legnano, holds the most important military position in Kevland but is rarely at his post, spending most of his time with Almida in Asti and delegating his duties to chosen deputies.

The crown exercises reasonably firm authority over eastern and southern Kevland and over Legnano on the Pylene River. Elsewhere in northen Kevland, the suzerainty of the crown is often nominal at best.
