Paganism

Pagans believe in the powers of this world, the old gods, the spirits of the earth and the sky. Worshippers offer sacrifices and obedience in the hope of receiving favours or assistance, or at least avoiding punishment at the whims of powerful but petty and cruel gods. Depending on their religious tradition, Pagans believe either that there is no life after death or that people are reborn again and again in endless cycles, sometimes after spending a period of time in an underworld ruled by one or more of the old gods.

The most visible pagans throughout Selentia are the peasants in the border kingdoms (such as Dirkholme, Menarland and Old Duneld), the Sorcerers of the Tirynian Circle, and some of the non-Humans, particularly the Dwarves and the Elves. Perhaps the best-known pagan is Angmar, Witch-King of the Empire of Wyrd, one of the Seven Eternal Sorcerers. Equally well known is the story of his defeat and downfall by the Selentine Empire and the True Faith.
